Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is hiring a Senior Network Engineer to support the JSP ETM-NG program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The role requires onsite work Sunday-Thursday, 6:00am-2:30pm, with no telecommuting.

You will design, configure, and maintain complex LAN/WAN networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, while ensuring security and backup capabilities. Leadership of junior staff is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; 4 years may substitute in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of related network engineering experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• IAT Level II certification.
• Current networking certs: CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP, Aruba, Brocade.
• Hands-on Aruba networking experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and build LAN/WAN networks for government projects.
• Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN concentrators.
• Monitor networks using industry standard tools and ensure security.
• Coordinate hardware/software upgrades and subcontractor services.
• Provide guidance to junior network personnel and teams.
• Ensure network backup and recovery capabilities and policy compliance.

Selected candidate will support Shift: Sunday - Thursday (6:00am - 2:30pm).

Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require full-time onsite support

• The Senior Network Engineer will play a crucial role in driving the success of multiple concurrent efforts.
• Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.
• Configure routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
• Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.
• Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
• Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.
• Plans for implementation of enhancements.
• Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
• Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
• Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
• Creates plans and configure systems for data communication networks.
• Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
• Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
• Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

What you’ll need to succeed (Required):

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in leu of degree.
• Experience: 5+ years of related experience.
• Security clearance level: Active Top Secret required with the ability to obtain SCI.
• Certifications: Current IAT Level II certification required. In addition, candidate must possess a current Networking Certification to include Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), or Aruba.
• Role requirements: Hands-on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems required.
