General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Network Engineer to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. This is an onsite role in Arlington, VA with no telecommuting.

The candidate will design, plan, build LAN/WAN networks, configure routers/switches/firewalls, and ensure network health and security compliance. Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required or must be obtainable; 5+ years' experience and a related degree are expected.

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required or the ability to obtain.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Willingness to obtain Aruba certification within 90 days if not held.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.
  • Configures routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN/WAN and VPNs.
  • Monitors networks and provides technical solutions using engineering processes.
  • Maintains network integrity and backup/recovery capabilities.
  • Coordinates hardware/software acquisitions and subcontractor services as needed.

Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer joining our team to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Designs, plans, and builds communications networks. Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements. Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks. Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability. Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed. Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks. Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks. Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED - REQUIRED:

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance Certifications: ---- IAT Level II certification ---- ONE of the following Networking Certifications - Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), Aruba ---- Willing to obtain an Aruba Certification within 90 days from start of employment (if candidate does not already hold this certification) Year's Experience: 5+ years of experience in network administration Education: Bachelors’ Degree in a related field, OR work experience in lieu of degree. Technical Skills: ---- Must have hands‑on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems ---- Proven experience in routing protocols and L3 configurations
