Job summary

Detroit Public Schools Community District is seeking a Network Engineer - Team Lead to guide the design, deployment, and security of the district's enterprise network. The role requires leadership of WAN/LAN, VPN, wireless, and firewall initiatives, with a focus on reliability and security across multiple sites.

The candidate will mentor engineers, coordinate security and risk management efforts, and deliver executive-ready reporting and documentation for major projects and incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information tech, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• CCNA required; CCNP preferred; Security+ or CISSP/CISM preferred.
• ITIL or process-improvement certs preferred or equivalent disciplined practices.
• Ability to provide after-hours and on-call support, including maintenance windows and major incident response.
• Five+ years in enterprise network engineering or related multi-site environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead WAN, LAN, wireless, Internet, firewall, VPN, and related services.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate priorities across teams.
• Align network operations with security strategy and risk priorities.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
• Communicate status, risks, and dependencies to executives and stakeholders.
• Manage large-scale projects from scope to transition to operations.
• Provide Level 3 support for complex incidents and outages.
• Coordinate security initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and audit responses.
