Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure in San Diego. You will manage routers, switches, firewalls, and related security requirements while collaborating with IT staff and vendors.

The role emphasizes SDN/SDP, Zero Trust, scripting, and robust documentation. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential in a fast-paced environment with a strong safety and quality focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT/Engineering/CS.
• 7+ years of relevant network engineering experience.
• CCNP certification strongly preferred; CCNP level expertise required.
• Experience with CISCO products and technology (Catalyst, Fabric, ISE).
• Experience with cloud networking and scripting.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, builds, and tests network solutions as part of a team.
• Configures, installs, and troubleshoots routers, switches, firewalls, and network components.
• Manages network policies, segmentation, automation and assurance.
• Documents network designs and diagrams.
• Provides day-to-day network services to IT staff and end users.
• Engages with service providers and vendors for guidance and best practices.
• Adapts to changing environments and learns emerging technologies.
• Monitors key system metrics using SolarWinds for trend analysis.
• Supports continuous improvement to safety, quality, and cost.
