Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to manage and optimize enterprise network systems, including Data Center, LAN, WAN and Wi‑Fi. The role emphasizes leadership, project oversight and collaboration with senior leadership.

The position supports a hybrid/onsite work model in Kansas, with compensation aligned to IT experience levels. Applicants should have 5+ years in IT infrastructure and strong routing/switching expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum of five years’ experience in IT infrastructure.
Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Computer Science program from a technical school preferred.
Training in ITIL, COBIT, and Agile is preferred.

Responsibilities

Implements infrastructure projects and system changes using established project management practices.
Analyzes business requirements, assesses infrastructure impact, and identifies gaps in existing processes.
Monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
Designs and documents infrastructure architecture and workflows, and defines policies, standards, procedures, and strategic direction for operations.
Performs infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades while ensuring alignment with standards and SLAs.
Mentors and guides team members, sharing technical expertise and best practices.
Stay updated with industry trends, technologies and best practices.
Must be accessible via mobile services during non-working hours for upgrades and outages.
