Job summary

Genworth Financial, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and support the enterprise network across data center, campus, cloud, and WAN. This role requires independent problem solving and collaboration with multiple teams to ensure secure, highly available connectivity.

You will lead network modernization efforts, develop standards, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architecture reviews, with a hybrid work schedule and core hours 9am-5pm EST.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in network engineering or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise routing and switching.
• Experience with Cisco platforms (Catalyst/Nexus).
• Experience with firewall/security solutions (Palo Alto).
• Proficiency in BGP/OSPF and related protocols.
• Experience with cloud networking in Azure/AWS.
• Familiarity with SD-WAN and Zero Trust concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across data center, campus, cloud, WAN, and remote-access environments.
• Lead technical initiatives, upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts.
• Develop and maintain network design docs, standards, and procedures.
• Troubleshoot complex incidents and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure connectivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Develop automation solutions using scripting and IaC to improve operations.
• Participate in architecture reviews, change management, and vendor engagement.
