Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise networking solutions across on-site infrastructure and cloud-ready environments.

You will work with Cisco, Ciena, and Juniper equipment, perform Layer 2/3 routing, VPNs, and performance analysis, and collaborate closely with engineering teams and clients to deliver reliable, scalable networks.

Qualifications

• Two or more years in a network engineering role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking concepts and computing infrastructures.
• Proven skills in network engineering, operations, and performance analysis.
• Experience with server management and monitoring tools.
• Strong communication skills for training and assisting users.
• Experience with Cisco, Ciena, and Juniper equipment.
• Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing configuration experience, with emphasis on BGP, ISIS, EIGRP, and OSPF.
• Knowledge configuring GRE and IPSEC Tunnels, MPLS, VPLS, and remote site VPNs.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with VMware or Proxmox hosting environments and storage.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in network design, integration and consolidation across environments.
• Resolve technical problems of moderate complexity related to installation and upgrade of network hardware and systems.
• Interface with customers, vendors and local teams to determine site installation needs.
• Engineer and implement technical solutions from cradle to grave.
• Document engineering standards and support network architecture changes.
• Assist in evaluating current and emerging technologies and make recommendations to senior engineers.
• Maintain network servers and related hardware, software, and settings.
• Test and implement system and security upgrades.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and other stakeholders.
• Analyze network performance data and implement improvements.
