Job summary

Peraton has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer in Landover, MD, supporting a DoD customer with full lifecycle engineering for large IT networks. You will design, implement, and monitor enterprise networking solutions, develop automation scripts, and ensure STIG compliance across Cisco devices.

The role emphasizes on-site weekday support, with flexibility in scheduling. Relevant DoD security clearance and Cisco/automation experience are required for success.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
• Security+ certification.
• Minimum 8 years with BS/BA or 6 years with MS/MA; or 12 years experience may substitute.
• Experience with developing Zabbix templates for network monitoring.
• Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS-XE/NX-OS routers and switches.
• Experience with EIGRP, BGP, OSPF; including authentication and route distribution.
• Scripting with Expect, Bash, Python; Ansible playbooks.
• Applying DISA STIGs to Cisco devices.

Responsibilities

• Plan enhancements and upgrades to routers/switches for a large enterprise network.
• Design and plan changes to network communications systems.
• Provide detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Provide Tier 2 support to troubleshoot enterprise network outages.
• Conduct cost/benefit analyses for hardware/software selections and deployment approaches.
• Develop Ansible playbooks and shell scripts for config and auditing.
• Configure enterprise monitoring tools for VMs, switches/routers, and datacenter hardware.
• Maintain DISA STIG compliance on Cisco devices.
• Onsite support Monday–Friday, with flexible scheduling.
