Job summary

City of Boulder is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to install, manage, monitor and support the city’s local- and wide-area network infrastructure. The role includes strategic planning, security compliance, and collaboration with IT teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions across on‑premises and Azure cloud environments.

The position requires strong Cisco networking knowledge, IPAM/DNS/DHCP/RADIUS expertise, and on‑call support experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, IT, or related field.
• Five+ years of recent experience as a network engineer.
• Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and secure city network infrastructure, on-prem and Azure cloud.
• Design and implement highly available network solutions for facilities and data centers.
• Administer IPAM, DHCP, DNS, and RADIUS; monitor and troubleshoot network services.
• Provide on‑call and tier 2–3 support; communicate outages and resolutions.
• Coordinate projects, vendor selection, contract management, and documentation.
