Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park, Division of Information Technology (DIT) invites applications for a Senior IT Network Engineer to lead networking design, deployment, and operations for campus infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, documenting, and presenting network designs for both wired and wireless ecosystems.

Candidates should have 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of professional IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lead presentations with small to medium groups.
• Ability to organize and direct junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement wired and wireless network infrastructure improvements and new capabilities.
• Design, develop, and support wired/wireless network infrastructure across devices and services.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation and runbooks.
• Present and communicate technical designs to mixed audiences and mentor colleagues.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
