Foundry Robotics Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks an experienced Network Engineer, Autonomous Factory, to design and build the factory network for a 130,000 sq. ft.

autonomous facility and to own it as operations scale. You will manage physical, data center, and industrial network segments, including WAN/VPN edge and secure overlay integration. You will implement segmentation, firewalling, and time-syncronization, while collaborating with IT and manufacturing teams to support robotics work cells

Qualifications

• 7+ years in network engineering, including greenfield or major build-outs.
• Deep routing and switching: OSPF or BGP, VLANs and VXLAN, spanning tree, LACP, QoS, multicast.
• Physical layer design: fiber and copper plant, cabling, rack layouts.
• Firewalls, VPN (IPsec, WireGuard), and security boundaries.
• Data center networking for compute racks: 25/100G top-of-rack.
• Comfortable on Linux with tcpdump, iproute2, and nftables.
• Able to document and automate: network as code and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Produce the network design for the factory: physical plant, logical topology, IP plan, segmentation, redundancy, and capacity.
• Design and stand up the server and GPU rack fabric: high-speed top-of-rack, out-of-band management, storage traffic.
• Wire and segment robotic work cells: controllers, safety systems, fieldbus segments, edge compute, cameras.
• Own the WAN and VPN edge: redundant private connectivity to the cloud with failover monitoring.
• Run the overlay network and its interaction with the underlay; ensure overlay routing can't hijack traffic.
• Operate core services: DHCP, DNS (private cloud zones), NTP/PTP, NAC, firewall policy between zones.
• Instrument telemetry to the shared monitoring stack and write runbooks.
• Carry ITAR and CMMC 2.0 Level 2 boundary protection requirements.
• Enable remote fleet operations: re-imaging, health checks, and access to cell compute.
