Job summary

FL State Agency seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and secure our network infrastructure. You will configure firewalls, manage VPNs, and enforce policies across on-premises and cloud segments.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in IT/security, strong NGFW and vendor experience (Palo Alto, Check Point), and a Bachelor's in CS or related field. This contract position runs ASAP through June 2027 with renewal options.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in IT and security with wide exposure to systems, apps, DB design/ admin.
• 3–5 years with information security tools based on NIST standards.
• Knowledge of security across platforms; NGFW experience preferred (Palo Alto/Check Point).

Responsibilities

• Configure firewall infrastructure and document access rules with Palo Alto and Check Point.
• Migrate firewall policies to new platforms and manage firewall deployments.
• Support core network devices (NGFW, VPNs, log collectors, monitors) for security of the IT environment.
• Configure firewall/security policies for cloud networks and monitor traffic.

Client: FL state Agency

Position: Senior Network Engineer

Term: ASAP - June 2027 with renewal

Pay:$75/Hr-$80/Hr based upon experience

Location: ON SIE - Tallahassee, FL

Work Authorization: USC or GC with Permanent residence

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Certifications: PCNSE or CISSP or CCNP or CCIE

Experience:

• Typically have 5 to 10 years of combined IT and security work experience with a broad range of exposure to systems analysis, applications development, database design and administration
• Three to five years of experience with information security tools based on NIST standards.
• Requires knowledge of security issues, techniques, and implications across all existing computer platforms. Preference given for experience with NGFW Palo Alto or Checkpoint security products.
• Experience using schematic diagramming tools to map infrastructure layouts.

Responsibilities:

• Perform security administration to configure and document firewall infrastructure access rules and work with peripheral network components in the technology environment with Palo Alto, Checkpoint and Global Protect VPNs.
• Firewall deployments, rule migrations, firewall administration and converting existing rule based policies onto new platforms.
• Works with critical core network infrastructure devices like Next Gen Firewall, VPNs, log collectors and monitors which play a crucial role in security for our IT environment.
• Works with cloud network infrastructure to configure firewall, security policies and monitor network traffic.
