Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) in Rockville, MD seeks a Senior Network Engineer to own design, operation, and security of HRSA's network infrastructure while supporting enterprise LAN/WAN, firewall, and remote-access systems.

You will collaborate with PMs, the Office of Information Security and Privacy, and desktop/server teams to deliver secure, scalable networking solutions and maintain high uptime across IPv4/IPv6 environments. A Public Trust is required consideration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of network engineering experience, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing/switching, IPsec VPN, firewalls, and end-to-end connectivity troubleshooting, including PCAP analysis with Wireshark.
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco switching/IOS upgrades and at least one enterprise firewall platform (Cisco ASA/Firepower or Palo Alto/Panorama).
• Experience in federal or enterprise environments with strict compliance and 99.9%+ uptime requirements; familiarity with NIST 800-53, TIC 3.0, and CISA BODs.
• Formal change‑management experience and TLS certificate lifecycle management.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support RSA SecurID authentication, VPNs, RADIUS, and enterprise authentication systems.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot IPv4 and IPv6 network architectures for seamless integration.

• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver complex network projects on time and within scope.
• Analyze customer and business requirements to develop technical networking solutions.
• Ensure network integrity, security, and compliance with federal and organizational policies, including backups and recovery.
• Monitor network performance using industry tools and proactively resolve issues.

GDIT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). You will own the design, operation, and security of HRSA's network infrastructure environment while supporting the broader enterprise LAN/WAN, firewall, and remote-access infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role working directly with Project Managers, the Office of Information Security and Privacy (OISP), and desktop/server support teams.

How you will make an impact

• Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems in support of secure and scalable network operations

What you need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Zscaler Certified Cloud Professional (ZCCP) or Zscaler Certified Cloud Administrator (ZCCA).
• Okta Certified Professional or higher.
• Cisco ISE, RSA SecurID, SolarWinds scripting, Azure networking (NSGs), Riverbed, Grafana, or Cribl.
• Hands‑on experience administering Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA, ZDX).
• Experience integrating Okta or another IdP with Zscaler via SAML/SCIM.

Location: Rockville, MD – onsite 5 days/week

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust. Must have resided in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years and pass a public trust background investigation.

The likely salary range for this position is $111,350 - $150,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
