We are seeking multiple experienced Enterprise Network Engineers to support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance a large-scale enterprise network environment. This position requires a hands-on network professional with strong Cisco switching and wireless expertise who can independently diagnose complex LAN/WLAN issues, execute network changes, and support reliable day-to-day network operations.
This Enterprise NOC (& Design) Team will be employees of Encore and sit onsite at a Datacenter near Pittsburgh, PA. No 3rd party recruiting or C2C will be considered for this team.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with practical enterprise support experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively within structured change-management and service-management processes. Experience with Cisco Catalyst technologies, network access control, monitoring platforms, and network automation is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on operational support for enterprise LAN and WLAN infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents involving switching, wireless connectivity, routing, VLANs, spanning tree, EtherChannel, DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst switching infrastructure.
- Support and troubleshoot enterprise wireless environments utilizing Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers.
- Utilize Cisco Catalyst Center for network management, visibility, monitoring, assurance, and troubleshooting.
- Support network access control and authentication technologies, including Cisco ISE and 802.1X.
- Leverage ThousandEyes and other network monitoring tools to identify performance, connectivity, and application-path issues.
- Independently investigate LAN/WLAN incidents, determine root cause, and drive issues through resolution.
- Plan and implement network configuration changes in accordance with formal change-control procedures.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and configuration through the Cisco CLI.
- Utilize ServiceNow for incident, problem, request, and change‑management activities.
- Create and maintain accurate network documentation, configuration standards, troubleshooting procedures, and operational knowledge.
- Collaborate with internal infrastructure teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and managed‑service partners to resolve network issues.
- Participate in operational support activities within a managed‑services and/or Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve network operations through automation using Python, Ansible, and APIs.
- Follow established network security, configuration, documentation, and change‑management standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Networking, or another technical field.
- 4+ years of enterprise network support experience in a complex production environment.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst switching.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Routing and switching fundamentals
- VLANs and trunking
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- EtherChannel
- DHCP and DNS
- TCP/IP
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco enterprise wireless networks.
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve LAN and WLAN incidents.
- Strong Cisco CLI configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience implementing network changes within formal change‑control/change‑management processes.
- Strong technical documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, customers, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst Center.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers.
- Experience supporting Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and 802.1X network access control.
- Experience with ThousandEyes for network and application performance monitoring.
- Experience working with ServiceNow.
- Experience using Python, Ansible, and/or APIs for network automation and operational efficiency.
- Previous experience working within a managed‑services or Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands‑on engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of network incidents and working independently from initial diagnosis through resolution. This individual should have strong Cisco networking fundamentals, excellent troubleshooting instincts, and the ability to operate effectively in a structured enterprise environment.
Candidates who combine traditional network engineering expertise with modern network management, observability, and automation capabilities will be especially well suited for this position.
