This position will initially require working on-site several days per week in the Southeast Houston area. The company is in the process of relocating its corporate headquarters to the Downtown Houston area by the end of the year, providing a more central location moving forward.
We are partnering with a well-established Houston-based organization seeking a Senior Network Administrator to play a critical role in shaping, supporting, and securing the company's enterprise infrastructure. This individual will help drive network strategy, lead modernization initiatives, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of network operations across both on-premises and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement while supporting business growth, new locations, and future acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain network architecture standards and best practices across the organization.
- Design, implement, and support enterprise routing and switching environments, including VLANs, QoS, spanning tree, and cloud-managed networking solutions.
- Manage and optimize SD-WAN and SASE technologies, including Cato Networks and Cisco Meraki environments.
- Support WAN connectivity for remote and field locations, including Starlink satellite communications and related infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure as it relates to network operations.
- Manage Azure networking components, including Virtual Networks, VPN connectivity, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, and hybrid identity integrations.
- Monitor network health, troubleshoot outages, investigate recurring issues, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to drive permanent solutions.
- Partner closely with Information Security to strengthen network protection, access controls, and threat mitigation strategies.
- Perform network vulnerability assessments, privileged access reviews, patch management, and security compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, topology diagrams, asset inventories, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT team members and end users as needed.
- Collaborate with departments including Operations, Finance, Procurement, and HR to support business initiatives and infrastructure requirements.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of Network Administration experience.
- 7+ years supporting enterprise networks across multiple locations.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and networking technologies.
- Experience with Azure Virtual Networks, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups, and Azure Firewall to go along with your Networking experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting Cisco Meraki environments, routing and switching technologies, SD-WAN/SASE platforms, and enterprise connectivity solutions.
- Experience supporting Starlink or other remote-site connectivity technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid identity environments.
- Proven success troubleshooting complex networking and connectivity issues.
- Strong analytical, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical and business teams.
- Passion for continuous improvement, process optimization, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Preferred Certifications
- Cato Networks or related SD-WAN/SASE certifications
- Other relevant Microsoft, networking, or security certifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combination of professional experience, technical expertise, and industry knowledge will also be considered.
