Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, migrate, implement, enhance, and maintain LAN/DATACENTER/WAN infrastructure. You will work on network consolidation, architecture updates, and site renovations with engineers on various projects.

The role requires TS/SCI with Poly clearance, hands-on experience with Layer 2/3 routing (BGP/EIGRP/OSPF), data center Nexus tech, Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto equipment, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and SNMP. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 10+ years.
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI with Poly required.
  • Hands-on with Layer 2/3, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF; GRE, IPsec, MPLS, DMVPN, VPLS, and VPNs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for network integration and consolidation across environments.
  • Resolve moderate to complex issues in network hardware and systems upgrades.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and technical staff to analyze requirements.
  • Engineer and implement end-to-end technical solutions.
  • Lead engineers on projects to deliver finalized solutions.
  • Mentor engineers on new technologies and automation.
  • Document standards and support network architecture changes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make senior recommendations.
  • Maintain strong customer service and communication.
  • Lead first article work across system environments.

Description

Leidos is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to be part of a team responsible for the design, migration, implementation, enhancement, optimization and maintenance of LAN/DATACENTER/WAN.

This position will work with engineers on various technical projects, including network consolidation and integration, architecture designs and updates, site renovations and relocations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and assist with network integration and consolidation efforts across multiple systems environments.
  • Address and resolve technical problems of moderate complexity related to the installation and upgrade of network hardware and systems.
  • Interface with customers, vendors and technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements.
  • Engineer and implement technical solutions from cradle to grave.
  • Lead a team of engineers on projects, ensuring proper utilization to deliver finalized technical solutions and implementations.
  • Assist/train engineers on new technologies to enhance the organization’s technical expertise.
  • Understand and apply software automation tools and programming languages for repetitive tasks.
  • Document engineering standards and support the development of network architecture and engineering designs and changes.
  • Evaluate current and emerging technologies, conduct technical assessments, and make recommendations to senior engineers.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effectively complete individual projects and tasks with some oversight.
  • Lead first article work on multiple system environments.

Travel: May require occasional travel throughout the continental U.S.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience, or 16 years of relevant career experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly is required.
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 hands‑on configuration experience, including dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF, and knowledge of GRE, IPSEC tunnels, MPLS, DMVPN, pseudowires, VPLS, and remote site and site‑to‑site VPNs.
  • Design and implementation experience with datacenter technologies using Nexus platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience with network monitoring, fault management, and performance analysis tools such as SYSLOG, SNMP, SolarWinds, ISE, etc.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure and experience with Cisco routers, switches, next‑generation firewalls, ESXi, and VMware.
  • Experience with Juniper SRX equipment and Palo Alto firewalls for boundary protection mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of network security concepts, best practices, and technologies including SSH, IPSec, TACACS, PKI, firewall policies, DNS, Active Directory, and 802.1X.
  • Experience engineering solutions with Cisco Call Manager and VTC technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • As a condition of employment, the candidate must pass both a customer‑required medical and psychological screening.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $131,300.00 – $237,350.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors are considered when extending an offer.
