This role will design, implement, secure, and support enterprise network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, wireless, data centers, and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and experience leading network initiatives from planning through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructure.
- Manage and optimize routing and switching environments, including SD-WAN, Software-Defined Access (SDA), BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, and HSRP/VRRP.
- Configure and support firewalls, VPNs, and network security controls.
- Lead network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure projects.
- Troubleshoot network performance issues and outages, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor network health using SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, or similar tools.
- Maintain network diagrams, IP addressing plans, standards, and operational runbooks.
- Coordinate with service providers on circuit activation, troubleshooting, and escalations.
- Ensure network availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation and support after‑hours maintenance.
Cloud and Hybrid Networking
- Design and support AWS networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, route tables, network ACLs, and security groups.
- Design and support Azure networking, including VNets, VNet peering, user-defined routes, network security groups, and cloud firewalls.
- Implement secure hybrid connectivity using IPsec site‑to‑site VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and Azure ExpressRoute.
- Implement network segmentation and secure routing for environments handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Support centralized logging, monitoring, network traffic visibility, and alerting.
- Partner with cloud engineering teams to deliver compliant connectivity for workloads handling CUI.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 7 years of hands‑on enterprise network engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
- Proficiency with TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, and Infoblox.
- Experience with WAN technologies, including DMVPN, SD-WAN, dedicated internet access (DIA), and broadband.
- Experience with Cisco and/or Meraki wireless networking.
- Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto and/or Cisco ASA/FTD firewalls.
- Experience with site‑to‑site and remote‑access VPNs.
- Strong understanding of network segmentation and security best practices.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills using Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar packet capture tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SD-WAN platforms such as Viptela.
- Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Experience designing VPCs/VNets and implementing VPN, Direct Connect, or ExpressRoute connectivity.
- Network automation experience using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or APIs.
- Experience with network access control (NAC) solutions such as Cisco ISE or ClearPass.
- Familiarity with NIST, CMMC, or ISO 27001 security and compliance frameworks.
- Relevant certifications, including CCNP, CCIE Enterprise/Security, PCNSE, or NSE.
