Job summary

Piper Companies in Fort Meade, MD is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer - TS/SCI to serve as trusted technical advisor for enterprise network architecture, automation, and modernization in a classified environment. This long-term contract requires onsite support five days per week.

Responsibilities include leading network design across data center, routing, switching, and security; developing automation with Python and Ansible; mentoring junior engineers and guiding complex transformations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional networking and infrastructure experience.
• Experience as a trusted advisor in large enterprise or government environments.
• CCIE preferred; CCNP Data Center will be considered.
• Strong experience with network automation (Python, Ansible, APIs).
• Background in routing, switching, firewall, enterprise architecture, and data center technologies.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead network engineering consulting for a federal customer.
• Design, implement, and optimize routing, switching, data center, and security solutions.
• Provide architectural guidance and strategic consulting to leadership.
• Develop and maintain network automation using Python, Ansible, and APIs.
• Perform lifecycle management including firmware upgrades and high-availability configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead complex network transformation efforts.
