Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Network Engineer for the Sunnyvale campus to design, implement, and maintain high-availability network infrastructure. You will work with customers and vendors to deliver enterprise-level networking solutions and contribute to secure communications across the NG footprint.

You will ensure DoD/NIST-aligned security, lead network projects, and mentor junior engineers while operating on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.

Qualifications

• Must have current U.S. Government Secret level security clearance (CEP acceptable).
• Experience with managed network solutions and large-scale networking projects.
• Strong TCP/IP knowledge and WAN/LAN protocols such as multicast, QoS, CoS & OSPF.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and deploy site and enterprise network solutions per NG standards.
• Produce design review packages with schematics, BOMs, and schedules.
• Install and commission Cisco core network equipment.
• Coordinate fiber/copper cabling with suppliers and internal teams.
• Provide Tier 2/3 troubleshooting for WAN, LAN, and SD-WAN with 99.9% availability.
• Handle action items, hardware replacements, and software upgrades with CMDB updates.
• Liaise with vendors for escalations and onboarding of new services.
• Translate business requirements into robust network solutions for Sunnyvale.
• Enforce security policies per DoD/NIST guidelines; mentor junior engineers.
