Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Sunnyvale campus seeks a Principal Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-availability networks across the enterprise. The role involves working closely with customers and vendors to deliver robust solutions in a secure environment.

The candidate will ensure DoD and NIST-aligned security, lead complex networking projects, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced setting. On-site, full-time position with competitive rewards.

Qualifications

• Current U.S. Government Secret level security clearance (minimum).
• Experience with Cisco router/switch equipment, and Cisco Firewall/Wireless technologies.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, and Cisco routing/switching.
• Experience with LAN/WAN protocols and technologies (multicast, QoS, CoS & OSPF).
• Preferred: SD-WAN experience; enterprise project leadership; project management certification; Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and deploy site and enterprise network solutions per NG standards.
• Produce design review packages with schematics, BOMs, and schedules.
• Install and commission Cisco core network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Coordinate fiber/copper cabling projects with suppliers and internal teams.
• Provide Tier 2/3 troubleshooting for WAN, LAN, and SD-WAN; ensure high availability.
• Maintain CMDB documentation and act as liaison with vendors for escalations.
• Collaborate with Sunnyvale customers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Implement security policies per DoD and NIST guidelines; mentor junior engineers.
