Job summary

MCNC’s Network Architecture and Management team seeks a seasoned professional to help design and deliver next-generation data-network services for the NC Research and Education Network (NCREN). The role supports MCNC’s statewide fiber/DWDM/IP/MPLS infrastructure and requires collaboration across technical and executive teams in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive data networking experience in a service provider environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop data/telecommunications service offerings within MCNC’s framework.
• Lead or participate in proof-of-concept labs and related activities.
• Support NCREN operations: ensure quality of device software, configurations, and security posture.
• Lead Pre-Sales Engineering activities as required.
• Create network equipment bills of material and capital budgets.
• Prepare technical responses to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs/IFBs MCNC issues or responds to.
• Represent MCNC at Research & Education events as required.
