Job summary

Lambda is seeking a senior network leader to own multi-year strategy for fabric, backbone, edge, and network infrastructure in a high-scale cloud environment. You will define direction, standards, and drive end-to-end delivery while guiding enterprise customer engagements and critical projects.

You will mentor engineers, manage day-two operations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve availability, latency, and roadmaps. Onsite at Bellevue or SF preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in relevant domains like cloud computing, systems engineering, and large-scale network infrastructure.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production large-scale data center or cloud networks.
• Experience designing, building, and operating software-defined networking services.
• Experience building distributed systems to the highest level of availability.
• Experience leading implementation of large production-scale networking projects.
• Experience with cloud provider networking, such as AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Deep expertise in datacenter, backbone, and internet protocols and technology.
• Experience optimizing networks for lowest latency, fastest convergence, and high availability.
• Comfortable on the Linux command line with understanding of the Linux networking stack and internals.
• Production automation skills in Python, a configuration management tool, network APIs, and source control.
• Production experience with multiple network gear vendors, including Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Cumulus/SONiC, and Opengear.
• Experience with networking monitoring stacks, including Datadog, ClickHouse, Grafana, Prometheus, gNMI, and OTel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Nice to have: hands-on HPC/AI networking experience with RoCEv2, InfiniBand, GPUDirect RDMA, and collective communication at scale.
• Nice to have: experience with large distributed training workloads, Terraform, Ansible, Salt, software-defined networking, Prometheus, Grafana, gNMI, OpenTelemetry, NetBox, DWDM, SD-WAN, virtualization, and load balancers.
• Able and willing to work onsite at the Bellevue or San Francisco office 4 days a week
• Legally authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain sponsorship from Lambda

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical strategy for Lambda's fabric, backbone, edge, and network infrastructure
• Set technical direction and standards for network design, build, and operations
• Own high-level technical relationships with enterprise customers and guide mission-critical projects
• Resolve technical ambiguity across network, hardware, platform, and product teams
• Investigate complex issues across packet paths, routing tables, vendor firmware, and code
• Drive technical work end to end, from vision and high- & low-level design through delivery
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and hiring
• Operate the network, including day-two operations and on-call rotation
• Serve as senior technical voice for large customers and incorporate feedback into Lambda's roadmap
• Identify opportunities to improve availability and performance and develop new products
• Report to the VP of Cloud and AI Networking
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers building large-scale AI training and inference networks
