Job summary

Weather Group is seeking an experienced Network Architect to design, optimize, and oversee our network and firewall infrastructure. This role leads design authority and acts as SME for network and security infrastructure, writing configs and mentoring engineers.

The position requires 10+ years in enterprise networking, strong Palo Alto and Cisco expertise, and the ability to defend designs under scrutiny in a 24x7 environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in enterprise network engineering
• 3+ years in an architect or principal-level role
• Expert-level routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VXLAN/EVPN, multicast, QoS, high availability
• Deep hands-on experience with Palo Alto (PAN-OS, Panorama) and Cisco platforms
• Demonstrated experience designing and operating networks in a 24x7 environment
• Strong troubleshooting discipline: packet capture and flow analysis
• Leadership experience guiding technical work without direct reports

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and own LAN, WAN, and hybrid onsite/cloud architecture.
• Produce architect-grade documentation with requirements, constraints, alternatives, and migration path.
• Maintain IP/VLAN schemas and configuration standards.
• Set routing and switching standards; monitor performance and address bottlenecks.
• Design for resilience with no single points of failure and documented failure paths.
• Own capacity planning and technology lifecycle with data-driven buy/refresh decisions.
• Evaluate platforms and vendors and provide defensible recommendations.
• Prepare project plans, budgets, and resources for deployments.
• Collaborate with other teams for operational or engineering needs.
• Own Palo Alto firewall architecture, including PAN-OS, Panorama, App-ID/User-ID, and decryption strategy.
• Own remote access and edge architecture (GlobalProtect, ZTNA/SASE).
• Design segmentation and east-west controls, including microsegmentation for data center.
• Ensure logging and flow visibility for monitoring and security tools.
• Stay updated on URLs, technologies, and vulnerabilities; recommend upgrades.
