Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a hands-on Senior IT Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain the enterprise network with a strong automation and observability focus. This role emphasizes NetDevOps, CI/CD, and IaC to improve security, visibility, and reliability across IT and OT environments at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Hands-on enterprise network engineering in production environments.
• Experience with routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and VLANs.
• CCNA certification.
• 5+ years in enterprise-scale monitoring/observability systems.
• 5+ years in network automation design and implementation.
• Demonstrated automation mindset with scripting and orchestration.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts like version control and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of network security principles (firewalls, segmentation, access control).
• Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and on-call.
• Growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize monitoring and observability infrastructure.
• Design and build automation to streamline deployment, configuration, monitoring, and incident response.
• Apply DevOps practices to network operations (version control, IaC, CI/CD).
• Manage network configurations in source control with peer review.
• Build security monitoring, alerting, and telemetry for threat visibility.
• Automate security tasks like configuration compliance and patch remediation.
• Apply AI-based analytics to improve anomaly detection and predictive operations.
• Provide hands-on support for complex configuration and escalation in production.
• Lead end-to-end automation and observability initiatives.
• Collaborate with Cyber Security and plant engineering teams on secure network ops.
• Support firewall, NAC, VPN, segmentation technologies.
• Research and evaluate new tools to improve reliability and security.
• Report project status, risks, and metrics.
• Participate in on-call escalations.
• Travel ~10% to other Cleveland-Cliffs locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
