Job summary

American National Insurance is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst II to join the Annuity Software Development team in League City, TX. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using .NET (VB.NET/C#) and SQL Server, while integrating with third-party systems and RESTful APIs.

You will collaborate with business partners, analysts, and Agile teams to deliver reliable solutions, participate in on-call support, and ensure code quality and maintainability across projects.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using .NET, VB.NET and/or C#, OO programming, and SQL.
• Strong SQL Server, SSMS, database design, stored procedures, and data integration experience; DB2 a plus.
• REST APIs and application integration concepts.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Exposure to Agile delivery environments and tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Ability to translate business needs into system requirements and communicate with both technical and non-technical partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using .NET technologies (VB.NET/C#).
• Build and support data-driven solutions with SQL Server, DB2, SSIS, and database connectivity.
• Integrate applications with third-party systems and RESTful APIs.
• Develop and maintain error handling, logging, and notification processes for reliable production operations.
• Collaborate with analysts, product teams, stakeholders, and Agile teams to deliver solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; participate in on-call rotation.
• Document processes and ensure code quality and maintainability.
