Job summary

TEGNA Inc. is seeking a Senior Developer to design, build, and evolve the microservices behind its Content Management platform.

You will work on Azure Function Apps, model event-driven workflows with Azure Service Bus, and set technical standards across a team including offshore engineers. You will partner with CMS Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect to realize designs in infrastructure while maintaining high code quality and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend services.
• Strong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET, including serverless/Azure Functions and RESTful API design.
• Solid experience with event-driven messaging architectures (Azure Service Bus, queues, or pub/sub).
• Strong understanding of reliability, idempotency, concurrency, observability, and good design.
• Production experience running cloud-native services in Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience mentoring engineers and elevating team practices.
• Fluent in Agile/Scrum delivery and Git; exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform is a plus.
• Experience with media/ streaming/high-traffic content systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate C#/.NET microservices as Azure Function Apps.
• Own event-driven service design with Azure Service Bus and handle idempotency, ordering, retries.
• Lead technical design for features and set coding/testing/observability standards.
• Mentor mid-level and offshore developers and raise team technical maturity.
• Translate epics into actionable stories with the team lead.
• Modernize legacy content systems into scalable, event-driven services.
• Collaborate with CMS Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect on infrastructure realization.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum cloud-native environment with disciplined source control.
