Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior NEPA Environmental Lead to advance environmental planning for Midwest transportation projects. The role focuses on regulatory strategy, NEPA documentation, and client-facing leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

You will help grow the Environmental Planning practice in the Midwest, manage scopes, schedules, budgets, and contribute to proposals while fostering strong client relationships in MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, MI, MO, OH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning or environmental science; related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of transportation-related environmental work; lead multidisciplinary projects.
• Established relationships with Midwest DOT clients and other agencies.
• Experience in proposal preparation and interviews.
• Strong technical writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Experience leading technical teams; senior technical leadership.
• Experience communicating findings to clients and coordinating with agencies.
• Ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand environmental services for transportation clients in Midwest markets.
• Identify opportunities, inform pursuit strategies, and contribute to marketing materials.
• Collaborate across departments to create integrated project approaches.
• Prepare proposals, develop scope and fee strategies, and support bid processes.
• Provide NEPA regulatory leadership for transportation projects in the Midwest.
• Lead environmental planning and regulatory strategy; supervise staff.
• Oversee environmental documents and permit applications; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interface with state DOTs, FHWA, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Represent Jacobs and clients in meetings and interagency coordination.
