Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior NEPA Environmental Lead to grow our Midwest transportation environmental practice. You will serve as the technical project lead for NEPA strategy, regulatory interfaces, and high-quality deliverables while contributing to proposals and cross-department collaboration.

The role emphasizes leadership in transportation environmental planning, client relationships across MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, MI, MO, OH, and opportunities to expand capabilities in the Midwest market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental law, biology, or related environmental science program.
• 15+ years of experience in transportation-related environmental work, with leadership of multidisciplinary projects.
• Established relationships with Midwest DOTs and other agencies.
• Experience in proposal preparation and interviews.
• Strong technical writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Experience leading technical teams and interfacing with clients and agencies.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental planning strategy and NEPA regulatory guidance for transportation projects.
• Serve as senior technical lead on NEPA requirements (CEs, EAs, EIS, 4(f), Section 7/106).
• Manage scopes, schedules, budgets, and staff on environmental tasks.
• Oversee preparation of environmental documents and permit applications.
• Lead client interactions, workshops, and interagency coordination.
• Support business development and competitive pursuits with marketing materials.
