Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. seeks a Senior NEPA Environmental Lead to support and grow our Midwest transportation environmental work. This senior role leads technical direction, regulatory interfaces, and high-quality deliverables, with substantial involvement in proposals, pursuits, and cross‑department collaboration.

You will expand environmental planning capabilities in the Midwest with DOT and agency relationships, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and delivering superior service to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental law, biology, or related environmental science program, or related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in transportation-related environmental work, with experience leading multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Established relationships with DOT clients in the Midwest (MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, MI, MO, OH).
• Experience in proposal preparation and interviews.
• Strong technical writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Experience leading technical teams; operating as a senior technical leader in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental planning and regulatory strategy for transportation projects in the Midwest.
• Serve as senior technical lead and SME on NEPA requirements (CEs, EAs, EIS, 4f, Section 7, Section 106).
• Manage projects or environmental-related tasks including scope, schedule, budgets, and staff.
• Oversee preparation and QC of environmental documents, analyses, permit applications, and regulatory materials.
• Lead interactions with state DOTs, FHWA, agencies, transit agencies, and regulators.
• Represent Jacobs and clients in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and interagency coordination.
