Job summary

R&P Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our defense team supporting Navy ship design programs. This role requires extensive engineering experience and a current secret clearance to work across development, design, production and testing phases.

You will evaluate drawings, specifications and contract data, coordinate with shipyards, and provide risk analysis and technical leadership. Domestic travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Master's Level Degree preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Ability to travel independently to shipyard/industrial sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Navy's Ship Design Manager engineering efforts throughout development, design, production, delivery, and testing phases of ship acquisition and construction.
• Apply naval engineering experience in Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, C4I, Structural, Propulsion, Auxiliary Machinery, Naval Architecture, Deck Equipment, Aviation Support, and Technical Writing.
• Provide technical support in developing and reviewing design drawings, ship specifications/design requirements and reviewing contract data deliverables for vessel acquisition and construction contracts.
• Manage shipyard deliverable reviews and responses; ensure technically sound analysis and timely responses to meet contractual deadlines.
• Provide engineering analysis of technical studies, reports, plans, procedures, and processes related to ship design elements.
• Support program office reports, briefs, point papers, contract documentation and industry queries; maintain configuration of Ship/Performance Specification and program documents.
• Identify risks and provide analysis of emergent issues with recommendations for mitigation and resolution.
• Support Trial Card / Discrepancy Management including assessments of deficiencies from Builder's and Acceptance Trials.
