Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS seeks a Senior Maintenance University Instructor to train Navy personnel in maintenance management for surface ships. This hybrid, US-based role requires senior leadership experience and the ability to travel for ship availabilities.

The position emphasizes instruction at senior officer level, coordination with Port Engineers and Shore Management, and use of the 3-M program, SKED, and CSMP to enhance maintenance readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years in US Navy as an officer (O-5) or equivalent leadership
• Command of at least one US surface ship as O-5 with at least one tour at high-level staff
• Experience in providing maintenance process improvements to TYCOM/Surface Type Commander Staff
• Recent instructor experience on surface Navy maintenance topics within last 2 years
• Experience with shipboard maintenance policies, programs and initiatives
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and base access
• Willingness to travel 15–25% of time
• Bachelor's degree or higher required
• Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Participate in course development
• Provide training and briefing to senior naval personnel and civilians on naval maintenance
• Train in maintenance assessment process, document equipment conditions, and track maintenance
• Instruct on CMP, SKED, 3M, CSMP, and ship availability planning
• Provide guidance on ship availabilities and how to plan and prioritize work
• Train LCPOs and ship leaders on maintenance oversight and CMAV planning
• Contribute to course development and training on CSMP, SKED, AWP, and OMMS-NG
• Perform system analyses, risk assessments, and cost considerations for total systems
• Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
