Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Maintenance University Instructor Intern in Norfolk, VA. This role offers hands-on experience in maintenance management and 3-M processes, with exposure to shipboard and off-ship maintenance teams.

You will develop materials for classroom and virtual delivery, and collaborate with a motivated team to share best practices. The internship emphasizes understanding policy-to-process transitions and using AIS tools and 3-M interfaces to improve ship readiness.

Qualifications

• Eligible for SkillBridge participation and DoD eligibility guidelines.
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Available to complete the full internship duration (180 days).

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of Navy & Surface Force Maintenance Policies & Processes.
• Knowledge of required 3M Software and tools to manage Shipboard Maintenance.
• Understand CSMP accuracy to improve material condition.
• Understand Configuration Management in shipboard contexts.
• Learn the 3-M duties and responsibilities of all shipboard positions.
• Develop instructional materials for course delivery in classroom and virtual settings.
• Read key references like Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and CNSF 4790.1.
• Familiarize with current surface ship maintenance guidance across references.
• Assist with instructional delivery in person and virtually.
• Tour relevant command and maintenance centers to meet points of contact.
