Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking a design engineer to create and modify components and systems, leveraging CAD tools to enhance manufacturability. You will gather data, perform basic calculations, and present design proposals while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and planning teams.

The role emphasizes experience with 3D models, 2D drawings, and NX/AutoCAD/Ship Constructor to support a range of shipbuilding initiatives. On-site at our Avondale facility with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with 10 years of experience, or an associate degree and 6 years of related experience.
• Experience with 3D modeling and CAD tools to support design and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with Autocad, Ship Constructor, and Siemens NX in a naval design context.

Responsibilities

• Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture and compliance with specifications.
