Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Metairie, LA is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to lead the design of marine craft and floating structures, and to perform the calculations needed for design and fabrication.

You will evaluate designs for regulatory compliance, conduct structural and stability analyses, and support load line and docking trials to ensure safety and performance. Strong communication and CAE tool proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering.
• Minimum of five years of naval architecture experience in new vessel design for marine crafts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates designs for compliance with regulatory and contractual standards (stability, performance).
• Conducts structural analysis of primary structures and foundations.
• Performs stability analysis and inclining experiments on vessels.
• Evaluates and predicts vessel performance.
• Performs load line calculations for load line certificates and vessel arrangements.
• Assists in layout of interior including cargo space and passenger components.
• Evaluates vessel performance during dock and sea trials and suggests design changes.
