Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of systems or network administration, including 2+ years with Nagios XI in production.
• Scripting ability across platforms: Bash and/or Python for Linux checks; PowerShell for Windows checks via NCPA.
• Knowledge of SNMP, NRPE/NCPA, syslog, and common monitoring protocols.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, ports, and firewalls as they relate to monitoring connectivity.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the Nagios XI platform, including upgrades, patches, plugins, backups, and health.
• Onboard new devices/servers/services into monitoring to ensure no gaps.
• Design and maintain custom checks and scripts (NRPE, NCPA, SNMP, plugins) for Windows and Linux.
• Tune alerts and thresholds to reduce false positives while detecting real issues.
• Monitor and optimize platform performance, including capacity and database health.
• Document configurations, runbooks, and processes for maintainability.
• Collaborate with IT/network/systems/app teams to translate services into checks.
• Explore new plugins, integrations, and automation to improve the platform.
