Job summary

Unisys is seeking a Monitoring Engineer with over 3 years of experience, including 2+ years administering Nagios XI in a production environment. The role operates in a mixed Windows and Linux environment and requires independent work with minimal supervision.

You will build and maintain custom checks, tune alerts, onboard devices, and collaborate with IT and network teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/IT.
• 3+ years of systems/network administration, with 2+ years on Nagios XI in production.
• Strong Bash/Python on Linux and PowerShell on Windows for monitoring scripts.
• Solid SNMP/NRPE/NCPA and common monitoring protocols knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer Nagios XI including upgrades and backups.
• Onboard new devices and services to expand monitoring coverage.
• Design and maintain custom checks and scripts (NRPE, NCPA, SNMP).
• Tune alerts to balance false positives and issue detection.
• Monitor platform performance and health, document configurations.
• Collaborate with IT, network, and application teams on monitoring gaps.
• Evaluate new plugins and integrations to improve the platform.
