Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Database Administrator to manage Production and Development MySQL environments, optimize schemas, and ensure SLA targets are met. You will own incidents and configuration requests and collaborate with Dev, Security, and QA to improve reliability.

The role requires 4+ years in DBA, strong Linux skills, experience with replication topologies, and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). On-call rotation and off-hours maintenance are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a database administrator, with at least 2 of those years being focused on MySQL 5+ on Linux
• Extensive knowledge of database systems with a focus on MySQL
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux shell scripting (BASH, KSH, PERL, and/or Python)
• Experience with Enterprise MySQL replication topologies
• Familiarity with GIT, JIRA, and Confluence or equivalents
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
• Strong attention to detail
• Energetic self-starter in a team environment

Responsibilities

• MySQL Server Maintenance: Backups, restores, clustering and replication
• Monitoring and Planning: Proactively monitor MySQL platform and improve performance and capacity monitoring
• Performance Tuning: Use tools to tune performance and manage index creation
• Security: Deploy encryption and maintain server permissions; document decisions
• Production Support: On-Call rotation and off-hours maintenance; handle incidents and data requests
