Job summary

VOLTO Consulting is seeking a MySQL Database Administrator in New Jersey. The role focuses on installing, configuring, and maintaining MySQL environments, optimizing performance, and ensuring data integrity.

The candidate will manage replication, high availability, and backups across on-premises and AWS. The position requires strong Linux administration skills, experience with AWS services, and familiarity with monitoring tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain MySQL environments.
• Handle schema management, indexing, and optimize database performance.
• Manage MySQL replication and high-availability setups.
• Perform recovery operations and ensure data integrity.
• Participation in on-call rotation for production incidents.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, PostgreSQL databases in both on-premises and AWS environments.
• Manage replication solutions for each database based on application requirements for HA.
• Administer and optimize AWS managed services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2).
• Automate routine tasks using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
• Design monitoring and alerting with CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, MonYog.
• Daily maintenance, health checks, capacity planning across environments.
• Collaborate with developers to design efficient schemas and optimize queries.
• Work with DevSecOps to apply security patches.
• Develop robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Generate ad-hoc reports for internal teams.
• Shell scripting or Python proficiency.
• Linux administration proficient.

• Automate routine tasks and infrastructure setup using tools like Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
• Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems (CloudWatch | PMM| Datadog | MonYog) to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and apply necessary optimizations or fixes.
• Perform daily maintenance| health checks| and capacity planning to ensure database reliability across all environments.
• Collaborate with application developers to design efficient schemas| optimize complex queries| and enhance database performance.
• Work closely with DevSecOps to ensure timely application of security patches.
• Develop and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies ensuring minimal data loss and downtime.
• Generate ad-hoc reports and provide insights as requested by internal teams or stakeholders.
