Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a Chief Engineer for MV switchgear to own the product line across data-center infrastructure. This role is remote in the US with 20% travel and requires leading technical specs, FATs, and vendor coordination.

You will collaborate with major manufacturers, drive protection coordination, and ensure IEEE/IEC/NEC standards compliance. 10+ years in MV switchgear and a PE is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering on medium-voltage switchgear, mission-critical facilities, or utility systems.
• Hands-on with metal-clad/metal-enclosed switchgear, breakers, relays, and arc-resistant designs.
• Experience developing, reviewing and maintaining MV switchgear specifications (bus ratings, protection, metering, interfaces).
• Experience performing short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination studies using ETAP/SKM/EasyPower or equivalents.
• Experience developing relay settings and protection schemes for MV systems.
• Experience reviewing vendor submittals, shop drawings, and FAT-related documents.
• Experience leading or witnessing FATs, inspections, and manufacturing reviews.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE C37, IEC 62271, NEC and MV design practices.
• Experience coordinating switchgear interfaces with transformers, substations, gens, UPS, and e-houses.
• Experience working with major switchgear manufacturers and EPCs.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Own the MV switchgear product. Define standard lineups, ratings, and configurations.
• Write and maintain the switchgear specifications and interfaces to transformers and e-houses.
• Lead vendor engineering, review drawings, and conduct FATs prior to manufacture.
• Drive protection coordination with short-circuit studies and relay settings.
• Advance the product roadmap with emerging switchgear tech including solid-state options.
