Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Senior Municipal Engineer to lead our Municipal Engineering department in Newark, NJ. This full-time role oversees complex municipal projects, mentors staff, and supports growth in Municipal Engineering Services.

Responsibilities include leading projects for municipalities and authorities, ensuring profitability, and maintaining client relationships. A PE license in NJ and CME (preferred) are highly regarded, with a strong focus on leadership and public-sector engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey.
• 12+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with municipal/infrastructure focus.
• CME credential preferred; multi-discipline project management experience favorable.
• Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, including technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of municipal projects for municipalities, counties, and authorities.
• Ensure projects meet profitability, revenue growth, and resource management goals.
• Serve as Municipal Engineer and/or Board Engineer at required meetings.
• Oversee review of site plans, subdivision apps, and land-use applications.
• Manage capital improvement projects from planning through construction.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
