Ayres is seeking a senior municipal water and/or wastewater engineer with a proven track record of technical design and managing municipal utility projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in utility design, water/wastewater distribution and collection systems, utility relocation projects, and experience in project management, client relations, permitting, design, specifications, contract preparation, and construction management.

On Any Given Day, You’ll

• Lead and collaborate on municipal government projects.
• Design municipal water and/or wastewater systems including distribution, pumping, storage, treatment, and process engineering.
• Manage projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications, handle regulatory submittals, and ensure work is on schedule, profitable, and meets quality standards.
• Build and maintain respectful relationships with team members and leadership.
• Support and mentor staff development.
• Engage in professional organizations to maintain and share technical knowledge.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license in Wisconsin or Minnesota.
• 15+ years of municipal utility design and construction experience.
• Ability to independently manage small to medium projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, especially in smaller communities.
• Ability to work with a team of 40+ employee-owners in Wisconsin and Minnesota, ensuring accuracy and standards compliance.
