Job description

Join to apply for the Senior Municipal Engineer role at Pennoni.

We are hiring for a Senior Engineer to lead municipal projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Cape May Court House, NJ.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Work on a variety of projects including municipal engineering for municipalities (subdivision & land development reviews, road rehabilitation, stormwater management, capital improvements, grant writing, and attending public meetings).
2. Manage capital improvement projects for municipal clients.
3. Review applications before planning, zoning, and/or land-use boards.
4. Coordinate master planning-related tasks.
5. Serve as a Municipal Engineer and a Board Engineer, especially while representing Land-Use Boards.
6. Prepare engineering reports.
7. Work on project design and permitting.
8. Prepare proposals and budget estimates.
9. Supervise staff in the design of engineering projects including roadways, drainage, water, wastewater, utilities, and site development.
10. Provide mentorship to less experienced staff members.
11. Perform outdoor construction inspection work when needed.
12. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Basic Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline, preferably Civil Engineering.
2. 10+ years of professional experience in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure projects.
3. PE license.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Certified Municipal Engineer (CME) credential is preferred.
2. Management and/or Project Management experience with proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects.
3. Advanced expertise in design and permitting activities.
4. Experience with wet utility projects (water and/or wastewater).
5. Experience with water resources such as stream and waterway restoration is a plus.
6. Proficiency with engineering tools like CADD, GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and ArcInfo.
7. Experience with H&H tools such as HydroCAD, InfoSWWM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS is a plus.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
9. Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision and a positive attitude.
10. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
11. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a preference for technical writing skills.
