Job summary

Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking an experienced fixed income trader to execute municipal bond transactions and support electronic trading across fixed income sectors. The role collaborates with Portfolio Managers and traders to meet client objectives and maintain liquidity across taxable and tax-exempt municipal portfolios.

Preferred candidates will have 3–5 years in municipal bond trading, with additional experience in investment-grade or corporate bonds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three-five years municipal bond trading experience.
• Experience in investment-grade or corporate bond trading appreciated.
• Strong knowledge of fixed income markets and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Execute municipal bond transactions across sectors per PM direction and guidelines.
• Analyze bond valuations, market conditions, and sector fundamentals.
• Maintain relationships with broker-dealers to source liquidity and achieve best execution.
• Coordinate tax-loss harvesting, account liquidations, and portfolio transitions.
• Collaborate with PMs on positioning, trading strategy, and cash deployment.
• Support electronic trading across fixed income including corporate credit and rates.
