Job summary

The City of Sacramento is seeking a Senior Building Maintenance Worker to lead and perform skilled work across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical, and welding tasks. The role provides daily guidance to Building Maintenance Workers, plans, schedules, and assigns work, and coordinates with Facility Management and contractors to complete repairs and improvements.

You will inspect facilities for safety, maintain records, and ensure City facilities are safe, functional, and ready

Qualifications

• Five years of experience performing a variety of commercial maintenance and/or construction work across several trades.
• Lead and train subordinate Building Maintenance Workers and supervise work assignments.
• Coordinate with Facility Management and contractors; maintain records and safety compliance.
• Proof of education or certification may be required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and assign work to subordinate personnel.
• Perform routine maintenance across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical, and welding.
• Lead the remodeling, repair, and construction of partitions, door hardware, floors and ceilings.
• Install, maintain, and repair flooring, and operate shop machinery.
• Fabricate brackets and fasteners; requisition materials; track tools and supplies.
• Coordinate repairs with Facility Management and contractors; inspect facilities for safety.
• Train subordinates and provide exceptional customer service.
