Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent and two years of relevant construction field experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s license.
• Knowledge of carpentry, building construction, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work.
• Ability to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, and other restricted areas.
• Ability to obtain ICC residential energy plans examiner/inspector certification as required.
• Ability to obtain ICC commercial energy inspector certification as required.
• Ability to obtain State of Texas Plumbing Inspection License as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of building codes, laws, and regulations through internal and external inspections.
• Inspect on-site electrical, building, and mechanical work for conformance with city codes and ordinances.
• Prepare and issue code violation notices with corrective actions and follow-up.
• Review and interpret construction plans and specifications for monitoring activities.
• Provide code interpretations and essential information to contractors and the public.
• Prepare reports and maintain files of inspections, permits, and citations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Inspect on-site plumbing, gas, and lawn irrigation systems for conformance with city codes.
