Job summary

The NYS Office of General Services seeks a Building Construction Program Manager 1 to lead medium-sized construction and renovation projects for NYS facilities. You will supervise consultants, coordinate design and construction services, and support higher-level staff on complex initiatives.

Occasional travel and full range of supervisory duties are required. A Driver’s license and readiness to relocate to project sites across the state may be needed.

Qualifications

• Seven years of experience in multi-trade building construction, including two years managing multiple building construction projects.
• Experience managing multi-trade building construction projects shall include responsibility for three or more areas: construction planning, coordination of multiple trades, cost estimating.
• Experience with project scheduling, material purchasing, and resource management (labor, materials, equipment) and reading/interpreting construction documents.
• Degrees may substitute for experience: Associate = 2 years; Bachelor = 4 years; Master = 5 years; Doctorate = 6 years.

Responsibilities

• Manage medium-sized and fairly complex new building construction projects and rehabilitation/renovation projects for NYS Facilities.
• Assist higher-level staff in managing more complex building construction projects.
• Manage and monitor consultant contracts and the request for design, construction, and professional services from other State agencies.
• Review and supervise consultant projects and perform a full range of supervisor duties.
• Occasional travel is required.
