Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a senior DevOps Engineer III to drive the modernization of our multi-cloud infrastructure. You will refactor legacy systems into reusable IaC patterns, manage Terraform and CloudFormation, and enable self-service orchestration across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Collaboration with Security, Networking, and Development teams is essential. The role emphasizes automated provisioning, CI/CD integration with ServiceNow and GitHub, and adherence to CIS and IAM controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.
• Three years of related experience. (Administering cloud environments or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) Development: Contributes advanced development and refactoring of Terraform and CloudFormation codebases. Develops reusable modules and standardized network patterns to ensure infrastructure parity across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• REST API Development & Integration: Designs and develops custom code to interface with REST APIs for cloud service providers and internal platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, GitHub, BeyondTrust). This includes creating automated middleware or scripts to facilitate data exchange and trigger complex orchestration workflows.
• Cloud Orchestration & Self‑Service: Contributes to the design and implementation of automated cloud provisioning workflows by integrating ServiceNow, GitHub Actions, Ansible and Terraform Cloud via IaC and pipelines to replace manual processes.
• Security & Compliance Implementation: Implements IAM roles, security groups, and baseline security controls, supporting CIS hardening and compliance requirements through automated configuration and policy enforcement.
• Observability & Operational Support: Develops, configures, and supports logging and monitoring solutions across “hybrid cloud” infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, and GCP to maintain visibility into platform health, automation outcomes, and system performance.
