Job summary

i3 is seeking a Senior Multi‑Cloud Engineer to act as a technical authority for designing, building, and sustaining multi‑cloud capabilities across Azure, AWS, and on‑prem environments. You will develop reference architectures, implement IaC, and lead complex modernization efforts.

You will mentor engineers, configure secure cross‑cloud connectivity, and drive CI/CD pipelines while ensuring governance and compliance across mission systems. Huntsville‑area relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
• 15+ years of infrastructure and cloud engineering experience.
• Expert‑level, hands‑on experience designing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Azure and AWS services in enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated ability to create, modify, test, and maintain IaC, automation scripts, and deployment pipelines using Terraform, Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent tools.
• Deep hands‑on experience with cloud networking, including Azure Virtual Network, AWS VPC, routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancers, and hybrid connectivity.
• Deep hands‑on experience implementing IAM, federation, RBAC, workload identities, secrets management, and cloud security controls in Azure and AWS.
• Demonstrated experience deploying, administering, securing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes and container ecosystems across major platforms.
• Experience operating CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines with security scanning, policy checks, automated testing, and artifact repositories.
• Practical experience configuring cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response workflows, backup/recovery, and high availability.
• Strong documentation, mentoring, and ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability to operate independently as a senior technical authority and collaborate across cybersecurity, networking, software, data, and mission teams.
• Must hold a CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent IAT Level II certification and at least one Azure or AWS cloud certification.
• Must reside within 75‑mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate; active Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical SME and hands‑on engineer for multi‑cloud capabilities across Azure, AWS, and hybrid/on‑prem environments.
• Design, build, configure, deploy, test, troubleshoot, and sustain cloud infrastructure, platform services, and integrations in production and non‑production environments.
• Develop reference architectures, reusable infrastructure modules, and implementation guidance to enable portability, interoperability, resilience, and security.
• Implement and maintain IaC using Terraform, Bicep/ARM templates, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, platform components, and cloud‑native apps using DevSecOps tooling.
• Design cross‑cloud connectivity, including VPCs, DNS, load balancers, and private connectivity; manage RBAC and IAM.
• Deploy, administer, secure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS, OpenShift).
• Develop cloud hosting patterns for VMs, containers, serverless, databases, and storage; enable API integration.
• Automate configuration management, patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting.
• Lead migrations and modernization efforts, advise leadership on risks and options, mentor engineers, and produce runbooks and docs.
