Job summary

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison to strategically support medical and scientific objectives across product life cycles. You will communicate rigorous, evidence-based information to clinicians within your territory and manage relationships with key opinion leaders.

You will travel up to ~70% of the time, mentor other MSLs, and help shape HCP engagement plans while staying current on real-world evidence and HEOR to inform medical strategy.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Biological Sciences or related major.
• 3+ years of professional experience in a clinical setting or related therapeutic area.
• MD, PharmD, or PhD in biological sciences strongly preferred and/or a minimum of 2 years track record of success as an MSL.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently.
• Ability to travel minimum ~70% of the time.
• Candidate is required to live within the territory.

Responsibilities

• Strategically support Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease’s medical and scientific objectives across product life cycles.
• Communicate accurate and applicable scientific information to healthcare practitioners within the assigned geographic area
• Manage relationships with healthcare practitioners and key opinion leaders
• Identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities with Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease
• Mentor and coach other MSLs in creating and implementing HCP engagement plans
• Profile territories, identify HCPs and important centers of excellence, and build relationships
• Develop, evaluate, and refine HCP engagement plans aligned with medical strategic goals
• Provide relevant scientific and medical information about company products and disease states
• Gather and disseminate HCP insights internally to inform medical strategy
• Develop external business relationships and identify engagement or resource-development opportunities
• Maintain current scientific knowledge and forecast therapeutic-area trends
• Support scientific exchange with external stakeholders and educate internal teams
• Apply knowledge of real-world evidence and HEOR
• Understand clinical study design, protocols, and applicable research outcomes
• Support externally sponsored research and clinical trials
• Maintain knowledge of the US healthcare system, rare disease ecosystem, managed markets, and government organizations
• Travel throughout the Pacific Northwest territory and attend medical, team, and group meetings
