Job description

Schedule: Thurs-Sun 9p-7:30a.

The Sr MRI Technologist is responsible for the following:

  1. Performs the more complex MRI procedures on a scheduled and emergency basis.
  2. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for MRI imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
  3. Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
  4. Selects appropriate equipment and technical parameters to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  5. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patients' specific needs.
  6. Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Magnetic field environment.
  7. Follows MR QC Exam/Data Integrity workflow expectations.
  8. Practices High Reliability Communication techniques.
  9. Consistently provides exceptional care and exceptional service.
  10. Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
  11. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
  12. Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
  13. Performs additional tasks as delegated by manager or Assistant/Chief Technologist i.e., such as inventory review and ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, managing equipment repairs, participating in research projects, reviewing billing and coding, assist QI coordinator as needed, etc.
  14. Fills in for manager or Assistant/Chief Technologist as necessary, by monitoring and maintaining daily operations of clinical area.
  15. Acts as Board Runner Technologist.
  16. Acts as a champion for new equipment or processes.
  17. Participates in precepting new staff as requested.
  18. Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
  19. Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  20. Complies with ETU.
  21. Complies with HIPPA regulations.
  22. Practices BCH 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
  23. Completes all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  24. Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
  25. Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.

The Sr MRI Technologist must have the following:

  1. Registered Radiologic Technologist- MRI
  2. Associates Degree: Allied Health
  3. 3 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist.
